There were sixteen games played in the Section today and a number of very exciting ones including a 7-6 win for Fairport over Penfield with no time left on the clock. Haverling took Aquinas in double overtime and Marcus Whitman beat Mynderse in the first overtime period.

It was a long awaited match up and at the last moment, moved from Pittsford Mendon to St. John Fisher College, where the stands were nearly full. The Panthers scored five unanswered goals in the fourth quarter for secure a 9-4 win over Fairport.

Rush Henrietta scored the final three goals of regulation to force overtime where senior Torry Whitcher scored the game winning goal only 0:50 into the first overtime period and secured the 14-13 win over Gates-Chili.

In a a close game at Penn Yan, Fairport held off an late attack and beat the Mustangs 9-8. Hilton scored five goals in the final quarter to come back and defeat Canandaigua 13-12.

Eleven games were cancelled throughout the afternoon, some at noon and some at the field. Penn Yan got a whole 1:05 into their game with Baldwinsville, and was in the lead (1-0) before they had to given in to the weather. There must have been a sunny patch in Chili as Churchville-Chili beat Gates Chili 16-4.

There were fifteen games played today in Section Five, a couple of close ones but mostly mismatches. Eastridge won their first game of the season using double overtime to defeat the Thunder 11-10. East Rochester beat Newark 8-7. All the other games were won by six goals.

There has been a great deal of talk about the Canandaigua-Fairport game and the game itself met all expectations. With neither team leading my more than two goals, and with Fairport sending the game into overtime with two goal scored in the last seconds of the game, the estimated eleven hundred lacrosse fans were treated to a great game.

here were two upsets in the Class A out bracket as the 12th seeded Gates Chili beat the 5th seeded Brockport and the 9th seeded Hilton upset the 8th seeded Rush-Henrietta. Batavia won their first ever Varsity games (15-10 over the Lightning), Brockport beat C-C (9-5) and Canandaigua beat Penn Yan in a close 5-4 game. McQuaid Jesuit, and Aquinas were GRALL winners and Pittsford, Gates Chili, Fairport, Penfield, R-H and Geneva had easy wins. Newark beat Pal-Mac 11-8, Mynderse took BH (11-9) and Waterloo was the 9-8 winner over Midlakes.

Canandaigua scored five goals in each of three quarters as the beat Corning East (Section 4) 15-6 on Evens Field. Schroeder was an overtime winner at Amherst (Section 6), Irondequoit scored six goals in the third on their way to a 14-6 win over vsiting McQuaid Jesuit and Rush-Henrietta beat Gates Chili 14-12. Waterloo lost to Section 3 winner, Jordan Elbridge on the last Saturday of spring break.
